mint julep

the weather's been uncooperative for gardening, so i've limited myself to small containers for the moment. one not pictured houses peppermint "kentucky colonel." with the derby less than an hour away, we're getting set to muddle some. here's the recipe for a classic mint julep:

3-5 mint leaves
t powdered sugar, muddled together
add 2 t water and muddle some more
2 - 2.5 oz good bourbon
pour over crushed ice, in a julep cup if you have one

cheers!

i find the classic recipe not as good as the 3-day steep of mint in a light sugar syrup, of course...but their is something to be said about the mint coming from ones own efforts. ;)
