screen door

Spring Break allowed us to get caught up on a few little projects, including repairing and painting the screen door. When we moved in we found it in the basement, utterly warped and very loose. We put it up last summer and it barely performed its doorly duties. It didn't close fully, an important failure Scout took advantage of on several occasions.

But it turned out nicely. With new hinges, glue, wood patch, and some heavy duty belt sanding it fits like the proverbial glove. Does it make you thirsty for Turkish Coffee? I'd be surprised if it does, though that's the color. It looks more like melted milk chocolate. We'll strip and stain the front door also to a brown sometime over the summer, so it will match eventually.

We also finally got started on the guest room which might be the last difficult room to do. The walls are in bad shape--layers of glue, paint, and patch. After that we have only the living room and our bedroom to do. The walls in both rooms will be much easier to get ready for painting.
